Electric Polytape is especially used to horse fencing. Polytape is a replacement for the thin electric wires which were invisible for the horse. Horses have poor vision and this restricted the farm owner to lay an electric fence for horses, but later with the usage for polytape which are large and clearly visible the electric horse fencing is back in demand. These are less costly and can be easily installed than the traditional wooden fencing. Though, barbwire was used for very less time the barbwire caused much physical damage than the wooden fencings. 

Then new electric fencing methods came in which the polytape was used instead of wires. Polytape was made of strong conductive material which can withstand high pressures exerted when a horse runs into the fence. They are also useful to protect them from wild predators. Electric fencing needs perfect insulators for supporting posts normally plastic fence posts where used for electric fencing but for horse electric fencing they were replaced by polyposts. These posts were light weight and provided the same support as the wooden posts did. An energiser used for horses was also of high voltage like the 12v energisers. There were enough to give a mild shock for the horses and other predators. The normally used 6v batteries cannot give a sufficient shock to horses so; these low batteries were used for only chickens and rabbits. The chickens have milder electric fences and they are completely covered on the top by using electric nets.
